Welcome to the St. Mary's Anglican Church website.  I'm so glad you stopped by and I hope that you find helpful information on our community here in Egg-town!  Allow me to introduce myself! I'm Chelsy, the Rector here at St. Mary's in Vegreville.

 

Before being ordained and moving to Vegreville, I grew up in Ponoka, the most southern part of the Diocese of Edmonton, where I became actively involved in the life and work of the church and the diocese and started to think of ordained ministry as a possible vocation in my life.

 

After graduating from high-school I headed for the "big city" of Edmonton and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from The Kings' University, Edmonton, in 2005.  After a year of working at the Synod Office I headed east to Toronto to study Divinity at Wycliffe College and received a Master of Divinity Degree in 2009.

I have had the privilege in my ministry to serve in many different Anglican churches in Edmonton, Toronto and Belize, Central America.  After returning from Central America and Ontario I answered a call to serve in the wonderful parishes of St. Mary's, Vegreville and St. Matthew's, Viking.  It was here that I met my husband, Jordan, who works as a Parts Technician in Agriculture.  We were married in June 2013.

There are many things about the church and the priesthood I enjoy, however, I have a real passion and love for incarnational ministry and for the building up of the community in the Kingdom of God, through relationships within God’s church.  I love having the opportunity everyday to encourage and equip people in their life and work in proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ.  In short, I love God, I love God's people and I love seeing God at work in the world!!

I look forward to continuing to answer God's call in my life to proclaim the Gospel, make disciples, further the kingdom and serve in His Church!
